I no longer get involved in "the dance" which is very frustrating for many clients because 'the dance' has always been their ace in the hole.

Summary of "Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment: An Analysis of Gender and Other Responsivity Characteristics and their Effects on Success in Offender Rehabilitation"

A recent study by Dr. Dana Hubbard at the University of Cincinnati, Criminal Justice Department that involved the use of Truthought's Corrective Thinking™ Model and Charting a New Course curriculum highlighted the following results regarding Truthought's Model and Curriculum.

· Truthought's Corrective Thinking™ (cognitive-restructuring) model and Charting A New Course curriculum appear to be more effective because it focuses on changing the manner and anti-social patterns of the offenders thinking as compared to cognitive skill building programs which work to develop thinking for life skills.

· Those programs using Truthought's Corrective Thinking™ Model and Charting a New Course curriculum that demonstrated a high quality of leadership and that followed the model and curriculum were more likely to have successful outcomes with offenders.

· Offenders in the program with low self-esteem were as successful as those with high self-esteem.

· Women showed a 10% chance of re-arrest as compared to men who showed a 25% chance.

· Those with lower IQ's performed as well as those with higher IQ's.

· Participants who were depressed performed equally as well as those who were not depressed.

· Aggressive personalities performed equally as well in the program as all other personality types.

· Moreover, neurotics, dependents, and situationals did not perform differently from each other.

· Those who completed the program had lower re-arrest rates as compared to those that did not complete the program.

· While offenders were in the program they were less likely to be re-arrested.

· Older offenders were more receptive to the programming than younger offenders. While age was related to whether offenders successfully completed the program, it was not related to re-arrest. (This finding was consistent with other life course data indicating that younger individuals learn techniques less effectively than older individuals and younger people tend to commit more crime than older people).
